Ms. Leah

Ms. Leah excited to be back as our Lead Teacher in Music for Community Kids.  She has two degrees from the College of William and Mary which are Education and Science. She is a former Fairfax County science teacher. She taught biology for five years at South Lake High School in Reston and has tutored math and science for the past eight years since leaving the classroom. In 2014, she took over Kids Club (KC), the predecessor of Afternoon Adventures (AA). She taught KC one day a week and assisted the second day for the remainder of the year. Ms. Leah also subs for Community Kids.  Ms. Leah loves music, walks in the woods and collecting bugs and other interesting things with her daughter and son. Both of her children are Community Kids alumni.

She is certified in CPR/First Aid, E-MAT, and Child Abuse and Neglect. Ms. Leah has certificates from Early Childhood professional training courses and continues to take Child Development-related courses. Her annual requirement as a Teacher is 16 hours of Continue Ed ours in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Leah is required to have a Physical (every year) and TB test (every two years) completed before the first day of Preschool each new year. She has a Central Registry Release of Information Form done by Department of Social Services as well as a Background Fingerprints are done every five years.
